On this last Christmas Day, I met my brother Greg’s kids Bret and Annie and their boyfriend and girl friends Kaycie and Ryan., at the site where his plaque is placed, on the burial grounds at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor.
We all drank a Blue Moon and toasted him. After we talked awhile we got on the subject of my split with Tracy and what Greg’s response or advice would be to me as I had just moved to Tacoma 4 days earlier on Dec. 21.
We all agreed on what his initial reaction to my plight might be...3 words!
we laughed! HA..Then his daughter Annie said “100 days…that’s what my Dad told me” as she spoke of her father..”have no communication for 100 days and you can get over any relationship”.
I thought ‘Oh boy, this is gonna be a long year cuz I work with the person I’m trying to get over. Tracy left the marriage on Oct 12th and it felt the same as day one to me.
Blogposts “Nake Dude Eating an Orange in the Steam Room” and “Gracies Bag” tell the story ;)
I took my niece’s words to heart but saw that not talking to someone who you have been with almost everyday for 15 years was gonna be close to impossible…everything we had was connected and tied together.
The 100 day mark of our split was last weekend , ONE day before I met the girl with the sparrows tattoo…I’ll call her Kim! Anyhow..I don’t even know if I will ever see Kim again! but what happened inside my head after meeting her (described in the demo song “Sparrows from New Mexico" was definitley divine intervention…and complete healing, just after the 100 day mark.
I traveled to Gig Harbor today from where I live in Tacoma to run errands… and lately that has been a very difficult task as I pass by every reminder there is of my last 15 year relationship and cry a shitload. But today…nothing…no pain, no anger, no sadness…no memories! …nothing. Total bliss! Really, I felt like I had completely, honestly moved on.
I have felt this way all week and wrote a new song called “100 Days”..it honors the words of my bro who is my inspiration and the reason I didn’t quit writing music (described in blog post Big Dooley) and I think its really good… kinda triumphant. Well ya, really a triumphant song.
Soooo I have decided to professionally record a 4-song EP which include the songs Déjà Vu, Short Stick, Sparrows from New Mexico and the final closing song, “100 Days” and the goal is to release it on May 7th…100 days from now.
All of the 4 songs were written in the last 100 days and were about my ordeal and were my therapy. And now I want closure and to move on to my new life and write about that instead…
Thank you for your feedback on the demos for Déjà Vu, Short Stick and Sparrows from New Mexico …helps so much…and please support Count Gilbert music and buy the new EP with the new song “100 Days” ... YAY!
Hope this 100 Days theory might help anybody else who is having a time..
