I went to the Engine House to watch the 49er/Giant game Sunday and met and befriended a girl who flew in during the snow storm, for a 5 day vacation, by herself, from Albuquerque, staying at a B&B near the waterfront in Tacoma. And she was gorgeous…random huh?
After a night of beers Sunday, lunch at the Lobster Shop Monday, I drove her to the airport yesterday as she flew away. Our friendship was totally non-physical but completely rich in every sense of the word, which makes this song about my new friend and her tattoo even more special…

Sparrows from New Mexico
I was stuck in a cell, a cell of rejection
a prison of my self pity
thought it was hell, my hell was perception
thought it was meant to be
along came a girl, a girl with a message
you can find in her tattoo
she had beautiful eyes, eyes that were hazel
sparrows orange and blue
they were sparrows from New Mexico
flying next to me
sparrows from New Mexico
were there to set me free
she spoke of a love, a lover she left
roses blooming behind
she flies thru a world, a world without rest
searching for two of a kind
they were sparrows from New Mexico
flying over me
sparrows from New Mexico
were there to set me free
never alone, alone in the pain
theres another unwilling to hide
she rescued my soul, a soul without wings
now a sparrow flies by my side
