So yesterday was cool. While most people on this planet were watching a football game, I was on another.
This is a painting that hangs on my wall that Brin created for me 6 years ago of the Count's castle...well, yesterday I was there.
Yesterday afternoon was the day scheduled to record the Sparrows From New Mexico EP. I got a text around noon from my brother Mike that said “there’s been a change in plans, pack your gear, I’ll pick you up in an hour”.
Ok. I will. I packed my guitars etc. and put everything out on the sidewalk by the street curb…As I waited for my ride, I noticed the scene looked like a musician who had packed his bags and was waiting for a bus to board to go live his dream.
Instead of a bus, a black Range Rover pulls up and we were off. I said “so where are we going Dooley?” ….Mike says “you’ll see, the Count needs to record in a castle so just relax and enjoy the drive”…hmmm ok, I will. Then he continued “Today it is my job to make sure that the artist is completely comfortable and inspired, and that’s what I’m doing”. Artist? I had to think for a second…oh that must be me!
I was being spoiled, he made me feel like a rock star…and I was loving it.
Soon we arrived at the castle and spent the next 10 hours recording the 4 songs on the EP… Short Stick, Déjà Vu, Sparrows From New Mexico and 100 Days in one of the most beautiful, intimate settings I have ever been…the castle was surrounded by 360 degrees of breath taking views. I was on top of a mountain and inspired for sure.
I think the recordings went unbelievably smooth…everything flowed magically…as if the day had some bigger purpose than 2 bros hammering out some tunes…
Just 4 weeks ago I decided I wanted to make an album about the recent events in my life and now my part is finished. It has been one hell of an emotional ride that I would not trade for anything in the world, and I think we captured that yesterday. The Universe has delivered in a way I could not have imagined.
Here are some pictures I took from the castle that I hope you enjoy…next: is to have Maddy sing her vocals…then Mike will edit, mix, master…then we print and package the CD…Goal is to release it May 5th , Cinco de Mayo, could be sooner…
Oh…and a little birdy has told me that another sparrow tattoo is in the works, a sparrow with a different attitude…I’m thinking back cover for the CD please :)

Wow!!! These are great pics and I never met such type of incident. However I want to meet such type of incident now I am amazing that how were you feeling when you were records your music at so awesome location. Thanks a lot to share your enjoying post here.
